Mohannad Barakat’s technique for reducing stress

January 30, 2017

Work-related stress has become a significant problem across the U.S., which Dr. Mohannad Barakat has aptly recognized. In general, the American Psychological Association (APA) identified work as a top source of stress in a 2012 “Stress in America” survey, with 65% of Americans citing their job as a trigger. Of those individuals surveyed, 37% noted they were managing stress well. Mohannad Barakat noticed this same trend within his own medical workplace. The surgeon thus implemented a running group session for “stress at work” professionals who needed the stress reducer. Exercise, after all, is one of many great tactics for tackling this issue. Some others within the workplace include talking to a supervisor about ways to promote overall well-being, learning techniques for how to relax and tracking specific stressors both in and out of the job site.
